Javier Andrade’s film competes at Malaga Spanish Festival

Eight Ibero-American and eleven Spanish feature films will compete in the official section of the twenty-fifth Malaga Spanish Film Festival, which will be held from March 18 to 27 and will honor the filmmaker with a Biznaga of Honor Carlos Saura.

The director of the Festival, Juan Antonio Vigar, highlighted this Wednesday in the presentation that, after two years with the dates displaced due to the pandemic, the contest returns to March, because “The films that will be released in the spring find a better accommodation on the billboard.”

The official feature film section “maintains the model of each year”, because the Malaga Festival (southern Spain) is “the common home of Spanish cinema” and therefore “all formats and perspectives have a place”.

It was already known that the Malaga Award it will be delivered to all Spanish cinema represented by its Academy; the Ricardo Franco Award, to production director Sol Carnicero; the Malaga Talent Award, to Javier Calvo and Javier Ambrossi, and the Retrospective Award, to the Argentine actress Mercedes Morán.

In the chapter of tributes, this Wednesday it was also announced that the Spanish interpreter Miguel Rellán will receive the Biznaga Ciudad del Paraíso and “El Bosque del Lobo”, by Spanish director Pedro Olea, will be the Golden Film.

Another of the great novelties this year will be the setting for the inaugural gala, which will be moved to the José María Martín Carpena Sports Palace in the Spanish town, with a capacity of close to 3,000 spectators. (I)
