Artists cancel concerts in Russia. “Our thoughts are directed to the brave people of Ukraine”

The list of artists who choose not to play in Russia grows longer. On Tuesday, Nick Cave and the band announced the cancellation of the concerts, thus joining the group of artists such as Iggy Pop, Green Day and Franz Ferdinand.

Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds were due to play their concert in Moscow on June 16. However, the team announced on Tuesday that the event was canceled. “In light of the current events, we have no choice but to cancel our shows in Russia and Ukraine this summer,” reads the statement. On August 19, the artists were also to appear in Kiev.

Earlier, the Green Day team announced in an Instagram report that the Moscow concert, scheduled for May 29, will not take place. “With a heavy heart, in the light of the current events, we believe that it is necessary to cancel the upcoming concert,” informed the musicians.

Similar decisions have been made so far by, among others: Iggy Pop, Franz Ferdinand, The Killers, Bring Me The Horizon, HEALTH, Louis Tomlinson, Yungblud, Róisín Murphy, Lebanon Hanover and the Russian rapper Oxxxymiron.

“The world looks at the events in Ukraine with horror. As I wholeheartedly sympathize with Ukraine, my shows in St. Petersburg on May 11 and in Moscow on May 12 will not take place and are postponed indefinitely until a complete ceasefire,” Murphy wrote on social media. “In the light of current events, it is necessary. Our thoughts are with the Ukrainians and all brave people who oppose this violence and seek peace,” Iggy Pop said on Twitter.
