In the morning of February 25, the Russians began bombing the capital of Ukraine. The situation changes minute by minute, we have a special relationship.

The author of the drawing is the animator and director David Silverman, who has been co-creating the series since its inception in 1989. According to Deadline, the producer of “The Simpsons” Jim Brooks called on Matt Groening, Al Jean and Silverman to create graphics expressing their solidarity with the Ukraine repelling the Russian invasion.

Deadline cites Al Jean, executive producer of “The Simpsons,” who said the political overtones were not typical of the animated sitcom world. The Russian invasion of Ukraine, however, turned out to be a necessary exception. “We don’t do it very often, just when something… extremely important, of the utmost importance,” stressed Jean. – We want to show that we care what is happening, that we have great sympathy for the Ukrainian nation and we want it to end – added the producer.

The series “The Simpsons” can be described as the precursor of the genre. It was he who started the craze for animated comedies for adults, which sarcasticly depict stereotypical national, religious and social behavior. This series was the first to show the American lifestyle, parodying a painfully typical American family. The reality created by Matt Groening and the characters with a universal set of features that everyone can identify with immediately won a group of admirers and quickly became timeless.
