Alberta Vallarino, what’s next after MasterChef

Alberta Vallarino had not seen MasterChef. At least not the Ecuadorian version, the little he knew about the program he learned by watching a couple of episodes of the reality show in foreign versions. The 47-year-old cook and athlete is a zootechnician, although she does not practice it, she is divorced and has two children: Luis Alberto and Daniela.

His participation in the cooking program was motivated by the insistence of one of her friends who recommended that she audition for the reality show. In his audition he made a dish with the first thing he found at home, a colonche (a preparation with fish, shrimp, banana and peanuts).

The Masterchef participant has been involved in the world of cooking since she was 8 years old. From a very young age he collaborated in the different restaurants of his mother in Manglaralto, one of them called “Las Tangas”. Vallarino spent his childhood and adolescence between the beach and Guayaquilwhere she comes from.

For her, the most important thing about Manglaralto was that sense of freedom and fun. During this time her life was spent between cooking, surfing, body boarding and small temporary jobs that she obtained. Sport was and still is one of his great passions, since he has also practiced cycling, a sport that has caused many injuries to his body. In addition, she obtained the title of professional diver, being one of the first women in the country to obtain it.

Another physical exercise came into his life 10 years ago, rebounding. “Inadvertently I saw some boots that caught my attention.” This curiosity led her to investigate its usefulness and benefits.

“There are more than 33 benefits that rebound causes in the body, the main ones are its therapeutic purposes, since it was created to rehabilitate. It is useful for people who have joint problems, since it regenerates tissues”, comments Vallarino.

Her passion for rebounding has led her to share her knowledge, offering rebotology certifications for 4 years. This is not her only venture, since two years ago she opened an online store called “De La Negra” where he sells different types of green tortillas. These tortillas were also presented in Masterchef, a dish that allowed him to win a challenge.

Participations in TV

Before coming to the cooking reality show, Alberta had already appeared on television. When she was just 21 years old, she accompanied her twin sister, Roberta, to an audition for the novel “Puerto Lucia”she describes her as a friends Ecuadorian. Finally, she also auditioned and won the role of “Bela”.

A few years later, her skills as a diver led her to two diving programsone of them for the extinct channel TV Patín, aimed at children.

MasterChef

While Alberta was talking to EL UNIVERSO, a person came up to greet her. “You were my favorite to win”, they comment before asking for a photo. She reveals that the program has served as a catapult for her to become known and is completely grateful to her followers. Despite the fame, he feels the same.

“When I walked in I had no idea how it worked. I saw a couple of chapters before going to record because I didn’t even know what the balcony was,” explains Vallarino. She never thought to enter Masterchef, she wasn’t looking for it either, it was simply something that came along the way and she took the opportunity.

Alberta comments that she was not surprised when she entered the MasterChef kitchens, since she considers herself a calm person and does not let anything overwhelm her. This has a reason At the age of 32, he was diagnosed with cancer., a disease that he overcame many years ago, a stage in his life that changed his way of appreciating the world. “I think one of my main goals in life is be happy and I don’t let anything control me”.

What is the most difficult thing about cooking in MasterChef?

The stress and ignorance What are you going to cook about? “It is one thing to know the dishes, the recipes and have enough time. It’s quite another to face a set time with a dish you may not be familiar with, not to mention the few minutes in the pantry.”, reveals Vallarino.

“I did not know that I had a good level of cooking”, Alberta mentions. She even explains that it wasn’t until she watched the show that she realized her classmates wanted her out of the competition. Despite not having won the reality show, the athlete and cook feels like a winner. Especially since the jury, made up of Carolina Sánchez, Jorge Rausch and Irene González, recognized her as the best cook of the season.

Time before the former MasterChef participant was eliminated she was very stressedsince despite his good dishes and constant effort, she was knocked out of the top 10 twice. “What’s the use of cooking well, if the group is still against me winning.” Alberta reveals that the last dish he made, he really had planned for the final, but the situation was so serious that he considered doing it.

“I didn’t win MasterChef, but I did win Extra Time and other experiences.”
