Misheel Jargalsaikhan was remembered by Polish viewers as the resolute Zosia from “Foster Family”. Despite her promising career, she decided not to pursue her future with acting, which she abandoned for medical studies. After many years, however, she returned to the screens in the series “BrzydUla”, which again attracted the attention of the media. In one of the recent interviews, Jargalsaikhan decided to open up about her unpleasant experiences with Poles.
Misheel Jargalsaikhan recalls racist comments
Misheel Jargalsaikhan was born in Mongolia, from where she moved to Poland with her family at the age of three. As she admitted, as a little girl, she often met with unpleasant comments from her peers.
– In every country, racism exists. I have heard many times: “Ching, chang, chong, wallet is soaked in.” The worst thing is that these words fell not only from the lips of children, but also adults – she sadly admitted in an interview for the magazine “Viva!”. However, when asked if she had any grudges against her peers, she flatly denied it.
– To those kids who ran after me and said so? Not. But I fought it from the beginning. When someone accosted me in this way, I spoke beautiful Polish: “Can you say anything else in this language? I don’t know him. “When I asked if I was from China, I honestly said that I was not. And I asked if I could name three other Asian countries. Then there was silence,” she recalls.
– Each of us is unique, no matter what we look like and where we come from. It seems to me that the lack of acceptance towards diversity is due to ignorance and inexperience. These children probably did not know anything about my native Mongolia. I was exotic to them. Maybe that’s why they reacted like that? – she wonders, emphasizing that the situations she mentioned took place in the early 1990s – There was no Internet, mobile telephony was just starting, people were leaving less often. It is completely different now. I have been living in Warsaw since I was 14 and I can see how this city is changing, becoming more cosmopolitan – she noted.
She also referred to her role in “Foster Family”, which, in her opinion, had a kind of educational character. – It seems to me that the production wanted the series to be not only entertainment, but also educational. I was hired and Ola Szwed. We competed for the role of Zosia, who was supposed to be a blue-eyed lisping blonde (laughs). At the beginning, we were exotic for the viewers. However, we quickly gained their sympathy. People started to look at my heroine through the prism of what character she is, what she does, how she behaves, not where she comes from or what she looks like. She stopped being a girl from Asia for them, and simply became Zosia – she said.
