Come back with more music to dance in Pass me the remix bottleHow did this collaboration with Toño Rosario and Shelow Shaq come about?

I had been enjoying the original song for a long time since it came out in 2004, from Match & Daddy, from Panama, and I felt that during this year after the pandemic I wanted to do something very happy, but with the hook of a hit. I love to use songs from other genres, from the past, with Latin music, but with this I wanted to grab one of our culture, but put it for the codes of today because if the youth is on another wave musically, I took the opportunity to mix the tropical turn.

I feel like a lot has been lost lately and that’s why the invitations also came; That’s why I invited Toño Rosario on the album, who is a legend in merengue and mambo music, and Shelow Shaq who represents the urban side and is highly ranked in the Dominican Republic.

I wanted to change the harmony, the rhythm, the lyrics, take it to a more Magic space for this generation. That’s where we did it, we recorded during the pandemic, they had to record in their own studios, I took everything and began to polish it. It took me a year to do this job and the reaction has been phenomenal.

The single has ranked number one on the Venezuelan hit and media charts …

Yes, it is one of the most listened to in Venezuela, in Santo Domingo, Colombia, Paraguay and Bolivia, it is rising in Ecuador and Chile. I feel very good because with three weeks away it is climbing very well and with the video it continues to rise. We are just getting started. I know that nowadays people are used to taking a song and changing it every month and a half or two, but there are songs that are going to remain and it is the perfect theme to launch my new album.

What does it mean Merenguetto (album name) and what will your audience hear on this album?

Merenguetto For me it means a style, it is to mix the tropical with the urban, like merengue and hiphop, like everything that was made. It remains more of a musical style, maybe I will even change the name of the album, but I am like that and in the end it represents a lot of what is on the album. I was thinking of putting out some EPs that are focused on only one style, but what I want is to put out a complete album, that’s why I say that I may change it.

On this album, the style and genre is definitely danceable because I love partying, I love going to the disco, I don’t think I’m going to make an album of ballads. This is to catch people, we come from a pandemic and people want to go out, they want to feel, to be free. That’s what I’m focusing on musically, be it fusion, dembow, guaracha, be it reggaeton, whatever, but something produced, mixed in my style that I like to merge everything.

Will there be more collaborations, will we hear it in some new genre?

There are more collaborations, yes, and I think that mergers are changing more than anything. I’m not trying to record ten Pass me the bottle if I’m thinking of previous albums, danceable rhythms, different sounds, songs with more and less speed. I don’t put so much mind on that part, but on what I feel at the moment.

In this fourth album we are going to include Jerusalem, which is a little theme that we brought up during the pandemic, and start doing things with the new company that is Omerta Music Group, which I formed during the pandemic.

Omerta is her own record label. What motivated you to create it?

I knew that to get back into the record business, because I’ve always been in music, to get back to that I needed to have some control to ensure that my vision unfolds as it was. We are in that and at the same time I wanted to help other artists who are very talented, but perhaps do not have the structure or the management to scale and unleash their careers. And we are also an entertainment company and we are producing events. On Halloween we have our first festival in Panama, with urban artists and we want to repeat it in other countries.

When do you plan to perform again in Ecuador?

We are on it now. We are planning the entire tour that is going to be done until the end of the year. We will be in Mexico, Madrid and I also saw Ecuador there on the list. (AND)
