Originally known as “Non mi Uccidere”, this film is based on a homonymous book by the famous Italian author Chiara Palazzolo, and at the time it became a bestseller on the platforms. Warning, spoiler alert! From here on, important parts of the film will be described.
But what is the story about? The plot revolves around a 19-year-old girl named Mirta (Alice Pagani), who along with her boyfriend Ronin (Rocco Fasano) die together from a drug overdose.
The beginning of the film is reminiscent of the unforgettable movie “Twilight”, but then it changes a lot due to the darkness and the conflict that surrounds its characters, as well as the crudeness with which the actions are shown.
A dark story of romance
After Mirta and Ronin died swearing eternal love, at the request of the mother they are buried in nearby tombs. But what happens next is where the terror really begins, and that is that the young woman manages to get out of her grave with blows and is left wandering confused from the situation.
From here, it is when the narration of the plot travels to the past, the protagonist meets a friend and sees Ronin for the first time, who is in the company of his group of friends. Moments later, she discovers that in order to continue living and get back together with her beloved boyfriend, she must eat live human beings.
Then she will realize that there are also armed characters who are after her and seek to eliminate her kind. Mirta will have to make crucial decisions that will mark her future, and she will leave the door open for a possible sequel to the film, published the Fin de la Tercera portal.
Clearly, this film is made for a young audience, where themes of romance, sexuality and first love are mixed with death and terror to keep everyone guessing. The film is directed by Italian director Andrea De Sica, who was in charge of many episodes in the Netflix series “Baby”.
