Tomasz Kot will appear in one film with Diane Kruger. The creators are delighted with the professionalism of Poles

Tomasz Kot will play the role of Vitaliy Ivanov. In addition, he is not the only Polish actor who takes part in the production. Apart from him, the cast also includes Borys Szyc (Adrei Vadys) and Karolina Gruszka (Waleria Lebediew). In addition, the cinematographer Tomasz Naumiuk, who previously shot “Obywatela Jones” with Agnieszka Holland, is responsible for the cinematography.

The director and screenwriter of the film is New Zealand filmmaker James Napier Robertson, known for such projects as “Black Horse” (2014) and the series “Romper Stomper”. As an actor he made himself known to viewers, among others thanks to the role of Conner McKnight / Red Dino Ranger in the series “Power Rangers Dino Thunder”. His latest film “Joik” is a New Zealand-Polish co-production.

The script is inspired by the life of the American ballerina Joy Womack. She is the first American dancer to enter the prestigious Bolshoi Ballet Academy in Moscow (and more importantly, she successfully graduated there) and the second American to sign a contract with the Bolshoi Ballet. The artist works as a choreographer of ballet scenes in film. She will be played by the young actress Talia Ryder, about whom she has recently become famous due to the drama “Never, rarely, sometimes, always”. Diane Kruger plays Tatiana Volkova – mentor Joy Womack, former dancer and director of the Bolshoi Ballet Academy. Recall that Diane Kruger studied ballet at the Royal Ballet school in London, but suffered an injury that ruined her dance career. This role seems to be perfect for her.

As we read on the website coordinating the entire project of the company, shooting for the film has already started in Poland. As can be seen from the names of the characters played by Polish actors, they play the role of Russians, and Warsaw, in turn, pretends to be Moscow. “S” reached a person associated with the film production. The guide emphasizes that American filmmakers are delighted with the cooperation with the Polish film crew:

In addition to Diane Kruger, Talia Ryder, Tomasz Kot, Karolina Gruszka and Borys Szyc, the cast also includes Charlotte Ubben and Natasha Alderslade. In addition, professional baltenice and ballet masters such as Oleg Ivenko will perform. Natalia Osipova – director of London’s The Royal Ballet – will appear as herself.

The film is a Polish-New Zealand co-production. Among the producers was Klaudia Śmieja-Rostworowska from the Polish studio Madants. In addition, Four Knights Film and Anonymous Content are also on the producer list. The executive producer roster includes Robert Walak, Luke Rivett, Phil Rose, and Michael Cerny. So far, the release date of the film is unknown.
