The end of winter is near? The Beach House is reopening and Coals are partying in Rewal [P£YTY TYGODNIA]

On Fridays, on Gazeta.pl, we provide you with albums that are worth paying attention to – if only to form your own opinion about them. The descriptions below have been prepared on the basis of the publishers’ materials.

Metronomy – “Small World”

The new Metronomy album “Small World” is a return to simple pleasures and nature, an expression of making friends with more economical, original texts, and at the same time a number of existential questions that accompanied everyone during the creation of the album, i.e. in 2020. Appreciating nature and our roots anew As we age (and change value systems), it is an integral part of being human. Despite the turbulent sine wave of recent years, Metronomy continues to play and fight, and Joe Mount’s abilities as a songwriter, arranger and producer shine on “Small World”.

Beach House – “Once Twice Melody”

The Beach House duo, Victoria Legrand and Alex Scally, presented the last part of the “Once Twice Melody” project. This is their eighth studio album, which includes 18 songs presented in four chapters. You can hear many styles and structures in them. Songs without drums, songs centered around an acoustic guitar, electronic songs without a guitar, wandering and repeating melodies, songs built around string sections. In addition to the new sounds, many compositions contain numerous drum machines, organs, keyboards and tones that listeners may associate with previous Beach House recordings.

Khruangbin, Leon Bridges – “Texas Moon”

Two forces that boldly bring Texas music to the future present the second chapter of their groundbreaking collaboration. Vocalist and songwriter Leon Bridges of Ft. Worth and the Khruangbin trio from Houston met again to give us the “Texas Moon” after the 2020 “Texas Sun” EP. While the five new songs clearly continue the laid back, subdued sound of the first EP and its unobtrusive groove, the new songs have an identity of their own. Leon Bridges calls them “more introspective”, while Khruangbin bassist Laura Lee calls them “more nocturnal”. – As instrumentalists, Khruangbin is a top line-up for me. I am honored that they have included me in their world as the first external singer, emphasizes Bridges. – This is not Khruangbin, this is not Leon – we created one world together – sums up Lee.

Coals – “Rewal”

“A wave hot as lava” at the end of a ghastly winter? The Coals duo says “no problem” and tells us to listen to their latest EP “Rewal”. The mini-album includes six songs in a dreamlike atmosphere, written entirely in Polish. In 2021, Coalsi released three singles: “Miraż”, “ganc egal” and “Lawa”. Each of the singles has a music video. One of the most popular Polish rappers, ¯abson, appeared in the song “Miraż”; the sound of the song itself is a tribute to the Coals’ reggaeton fascination. “ganc egal” is to evoke the smell of the end of summer and night parties on the Vistula River. “Lawa”, on the other hand, is a stuffy gangway, encouraging chaotic wanderings on the subway. A real summer in the city.

Heima – “At home”

Heima is a team from Lodz that has been creating its own cozy world since the end of 2017. Their musical sensitivity smoothly moves between different genres, such as indie pop, art rock and shoegaze. Now artists are entering the salons with their debut. “At Home” is a record of Heima’s work from the very beginning of the formation. – This is a collection of all sorts of thoughts, without imposing a specific topic. This music is perfect for listening in the privacy of your own self – both to cry and to smile. This is a place where you can take refuge. These are 12 stories in which you can find yourself – announces the group.
