Cracow. The appeal procedure of the director of the Słowacki Theater has been launched
“The Board of the Małopolska Region by resolution No. 190/22 of February 17 this year decided to initiate the procedure aimed at dismissing Mr. Krzysztof Głuchowski from the post of managing and artistic director of the Juliusz Słowacki Theater in Krakow” – we read in the statement published on the website of the Marshal’s Office of the Voivodeship Lesser Poland. The reason for this decision was “violation of the provisions relating to the application of the Public Procurement Law”.
“In addition, Mr. Krzysztof Głuchowski withdrew from the performance of the contract of October 23, 2018 (as amended) on the organizational and financial conditions of the Juliusz Słowacki Theater in Krakow and its program of operation in terms of paragraph 4 section 2 of the contract, i.e. obligations a director to look after his good name during his term of office “- it was written further. These issues were to be revealed during the inspection carried out by the Office of Audit and Control of UMWM last year. “In addition, a notification about violation of public finance discipline was sent to the Spokesman for Public Finance Discipline of the Regional Audit Chamber in Krakow” – added. The Krakow City Council appeals to Minister Gliński on dismissing the director of the Słowacki Theater
The day before, the council of the City of Krakow referred to the matter, which adopted a motion for a resolution on the Teatr im. Słowacki, addressed to the Minister of Culture, says “”. “We feel obliged to express our concern about the information that reaches us,” it wrote, stressing that artists “have the right to decide on the manner, form and place of presentation of their works.” “Public authorities are under an obligation to take positive action for the development of culture” – they added.
– This resolution is related to an event that happened some time ago. Information was sent from Krakow to all of Poland, saying that the Słowacki Theater should bear the consequences for staging Dziady, said the chairman of the culture committee, Małgorzata Jantos.
– Connecting a very poor performance by Kleczewska with a lack of funding, or a supposed promise that the theater will be financed as a national theater, seems to me at least half-true – commented these words by PiS councilor Adam Kalita, as quoted by the daily.
