Elections of the House of Culture Núcleo del Guayas began almost two hours late

The appointment was at 08:00 this Thursday, and already more than twenty people were gathered outside the Provincial Delegation of Guayas del National Electoral Council to elect the new director of the Guayas Nucleus Culture House (CCNG). However, delays marked the morning of this democratic process. With 12 minutes elapsed, electoral packages and delegates from the seven candidate lists just landed at the site.

The atmosphere outside was one of desperate waiting for some, partnership for others; while supporters of list 6 (Fernando Naranjo) delivered calendars to some attendees, as a “subtle” campaign.

This setback was described as an absolute disorganization that only added one more flaw to this process that had already been delayed since August 21 of last year. According to election delegates, the delay was due to a health problem suffered by the president of the Electoral Court, John Sanchez. The place of him he assumed Karina Arteagasurrogate.

Finally, almost an hour and a half later than planned, the venue installed in the main hall of the Democracy Institute.

This way, at 09:37 the doors opened to admit – ten by ten – artists, cultural managers, historians and other registered members.

In the place there were four tables assigned for the delivery of the ballots. Two ballot boxes were for the members of the RUAC and the remaining two ballot boxes for the members of the CCNG.

Karina Arteaga, surrogate president of the Electoral Court, indicated that the only requirement to vote was the ID and wear the mask. “This electoral process is being carried out calmly and transparently”Arteaga said.
