Mróz is a widely read writer who has certainly earned quite a lot of money recently on the screening of his next books. “Chyłka” is the most-watched Polish production on VOD last year, including the premiere of “Behawiorysta”.
As for the books themselves, according to estimates by “Wprost”, counting that he gets an average of 10 to 15 percent from one book, Mróz could earn up to PLN 3.5 million last year. If I count correctly, last year alone, he released six new titles (and in 2022 he already managed to get one). Last year, Mróz sold over a million books.
In the previous ranking, also Andrzej Sapkowski and Olga Tokarczuk were on the podium. The author of “The Witcher” this time fell from second to fourth place, which was certainly also related to the fact that the netflix hype for The Witcher from the premiere of the first and second season, for obvious reasons, has a different range and different power. It is similar in the case of Tokarczuk, who, after receiving the Nobel Prize, became a read – and bought – author, but with time the interest dropped as well, as the media noise decreased. Now it is in the sixth place with the highest earning Polish writers.

In general, the authors of guides (the first two places) and the authors of entertainment literature rule on the list of last year’s bestsellers, while the list of the best-earning writers is Remigiusz Mróz or authors of children’s books and ‘women’s’ novels. Here, the effect of the size of his literary output is important – if such a well-known writer as Mróz publishes several books a year, and he already has about 50 books on his account, then he has something to ‘trade’.
According to the authors of the ranking, each of the authors from the top five earned at least one million zlotys in 2021. So who in the ranking is right behind Mróz? They are two authors of a series of books for children. The first of them – i.e. the second place – is Marta Galewska-Kustra, a child speech therapist and pedagogue, author of the series about the adventures of Pucio. The third one is Anita Głowińska, who draws and writes stories about Kitty-Koci. I have the impression that both Pucio and Kitty Kocia are well-known heroes, 99 if not 100 percent. parents of preschool age or those who were in preschool a few years ago. I myself have three of several “Puciów” books in my home library, and several of several dozen “Kitty” books, and puzzles, because, of course, such a product has also appeared on the market. There are also mascots in the shape of the main characters or dominoes. .
The fifth place in the list of the best-earning writers was taken by Natalia de Barbaro, whose “Tender Guide. Feminine Road to Yourself” published by Agora Publishing House was awarded the Empik Bestseller in the category of personal development.
