The family of the woman murdered on the set of the western “Rust” sued the actor on Tuesday alec baldwinwho was carrying the weapon that caused the shot, arguing manslaughter.
Baldwin was rehearsing a scene with a revolver alongside Halyna Hutchins on a set in New Mexico in October. the film’s cinematographer, when he shot and fatally wounded her.
Attorney Brian Parnish argued that Baldwin and other Western producers engaged in “reckless conduct and cost-cutting measures” leading to Hutchins’ death.
Attorney Panish, representing the husband of the deceased, Matthew Hutchins, and their young son, Andros, held a press conference in Los Angeles on Tuesday to announce the lawsuit against Baldwin and ‘others responsible for security on the set, and whose behavior Recklessness and cost cutting led to Halyna Hutchins’ tragic and senseless death, he said.

According to Panish, his firm conducted an independent investigation which he said discovered “numerous violations of industry standards” by Baldwin and the other defendants named in the complaint that was filed in New Mexico on Tuesday.
A video created by the attorneys showed an animated recreation of the shooting, culminating in a computer-generated avatar showing depicts Baldwin accepting a revolver from an attendant, pulling the trigger, and striking Hutchinswho collapses.
Hutchins family lawsuit
When asked about the amount of financial compensation that the Hutchines family expects to receive, Parnish said he believes it is “substantial.”
In November, Serge Svetnoy, lighting director for the low-budget western Baldwin starred in and produced, sued the actor for negligence.
The film’s gunsmith, Hannah Gutierrez-Reed, sued the production’s ammunition supplier in January, accusing him of putting live bullets in prop cartridges.
A criminal investigation is ongoing, but so far no one has been arrested or charged with criminal charges.
Baldwin said on several occasions that he spoke with the family of Hutchins, who died at the age of 42.
In December, in an interview with a US broadcaster, he said that when he was given the gun to the trial told him he had no ammunition. He explained that he pointed in Hutchins’ direction, following instructions, as they went over how the scene would be filmed.
In the same interview he assured that he did not pull the trigger of the revolver, that barely cocked it.
