The artistic company Scene Zone and the Litoral Polytechnic Higher School (Espol) The ninth edition of the International Sound and Movement Festival (SMOV 2021) begins this Wednesday.
The inauguration of the SMOV 2021 It will be in style, and the best thing is that all of Ecuador will be able to observe it live through social networks. This Wednesday 27, at 10:00, this event will open with an unpublished proposal, directed by Jorge Parra and Mario Suárez, in which the interpreters will make their movements flow to inhabit the space, allowing themselves to be permeated by nature affected by the passage of time.
Dry leaves, stairs, trees and bodies will accompany this interpretation by Gloria Febres-Cordero, Aglae Febres-Cordero and Patricia Galarza, which will be captured in audiovisuals by Federico Koelle and Emilia Albán.
That will be the beginning of five days that will combine virtual, face-to-face and hybrid events to add 35 acts, including talks, master classes, screenings, live music sets and experimental sound video art, around electronic music, classical ballet, dance folkloric, urban dance, flamenco dance and inclusive dance.
Sound arts. SMOV 2021 will feature performances, talks, master classes and tracks sent from various corners of the world. Exhibitors include Ricardo Dal Farra (Canada-Argentina, Wednesday 2:00 p.m.), Ernesto Romeo (Argentina, Wednesday 2:30 p.m.), Jorge Moncada (Colombia, Wednesday 5:00 p.m.), Christian Rebolledo (Chile, Thursday 11:00 a.m.) and Lars Graugaard ( Denmark, Friday 11:00).
During the second day of the festival, the works selected in the international call will be screened Share your Track (share your music track), which are electronic music projects and experimental video art, oscillating between genres such as house, noise, soundscape, techno and experimental, by artists from more than three continents and students from acclaimed Latin American academies such as Circular Studios, Sound Creative, Tensa Records and DMF Academy.
Folklore. There will be an exhibition of the dance works of the 26 groups participating in the 14th Costeña Folk Dance Contest (Saturday, 6:30 pm) and the dialogue table Folkloric dance in the new virtual training stages, with the participation of Katherine Mendoza (Chile), Sonia Burgos (Argentina) and Fernando Benavides (Ecuador) (17:00 on Saturday).
Ballet. The virtual scene will be displayed in the 5th Marius Petipa Contest (Sunday, 6:00 p.m.), bringing together 60 participants from Ecuador, in addition to the dialogue table “The formation and training of the dancer in virtuality” (Sunday, 17: 00), which will feature the participation of teachers Ninette Durán, Karla Núñez and Andrea Jaramillo, experts from Cuba, Mexico and Ecuador, respectively.
Urban dance. This specialty comes to SMOV 2021 with a discussion in which María José Ortega and Jorge Asaf will participate (Friday, 7:00 p.m.), as well as a meeting of urban hip hop dances for everyone (Saturday, 10:00), by Jorge Asaf, that will bring together urban dancers from the country. In addition, the videodance “Hoy”, of this genre, will be presented.
Dance for social responsibility and inclusive dance. On Thursday, at 7:00 p.m., there will be a discussion that will present the results of projects led by artists related to this activity, such as Carlos Delgado, Myrian Rivera, Aglae Febres-Cordero Carlo, Tito Cruz, Andrea Tacuri and Rafael Camino, director of the Jacchigua National Ballet.
Carlos Delgado and Myrian Rivera will be in charge of giving an inclusive dance workshop, face-to-face and free, lasting two hours (Friday, 10:00 am), with reduced capacity, for minors between 12 and 18 years old, with Down syndrome , always with the presence of a family member.
