The singer-songwriter’s followers had been waiting for two years to see him and, finally, the day came. Joaquín Sabina returned to the stage and he did it accompanied by his good friend, Leiva. In an intimate setting, together they performed a version full of feeling of the song ‘Tan Joven y Tan Viejo’, from their 1996 album ‘Yo, mi, me,migo’.
Sabina left her soul in every word, Leiva accompanied her. The artist and friend stayed to one side with the guitar, to serve as support for the teacher, who would celebrate his 73rd birthday doing what he knows how to do best, moving people with his songs.
At this gala in which many professionals from the world of cinema spoke of their desire to see each other again, to coincide with their colleagues and to be close to the public, Joaquín Sabina has returned. He hadn’t since his fall during a concert at the Wizink Center in Madrid. Since then, we have lived through a pandemic and we have seen him go out to honor a friend and to say goodbye to another.
But at the Goyas, he chose to sing “no good-bye guys” to tell us that every night he keeps inventing, that he still gets drunk because he’s still “so young and so old, like Rolling Stone.” The performance ended with a hug from the singer-songwriters who said goodbye shouting “long live Spanish cinema”.
