Javier Bardem, Goya for Best Leading Actor for ‘The Good Boss’: “Penélope, I love you. Mom, this is for you”

The award for Best Leading Actor has not given surprises. Javier Bardem has won his sixth statuette on the most magical night in Spanish cinema thanks to his immeasurable role in ‘El Buen Patron’, the film with the most nominations in the history of the Goya Awards. Although Javier Bardem was the main favorite, the actor was measured against other relevant faces of Spanish cinema that also have several Goyas behind their backs: Javier Gutiérrez, Luis Tosar and Eduard Fernández.

“It is an honor to be among these three great actors whom I also admire, respect and love very much”, Bardem began his speech, who also thanked his fellow cast members: “I’m here thanks to your generosity”. In addition, the actor has dedicated some nice words to “a soul friend”, Juan Carlos Coraza, and to Fernando León “for writing a character so rich in nuances and complexities” and giving him “the opportunity to interpret it”: “The trips we make together They are inspiring, I love you so much.”

Finally, the award-winning actor wanted to remember his family. “Penelope, she is the woman I love, respect, admire and celebrate every day, I love you very much,” said Bardem looking at Penelope Cruz, who was in the front row, while the audience began to applaud. Bardem also did not want to forget his children: “Leonardo, Luna, you are the most beautiful thing that has happened in our lives, mom and dad love you.” To end, Bardem has remembered the mother who “gave birth” to him: “He taught me to live and helped me survive, taught me respect for this important trade.
