An older man and a younger woman are a common pattern of male-female relationships. Not only the star ones.
Is such an age difference an exaggeration? Apparently, mio is blind and does not look at the birth certificate, but many will say yes. The writer Max O’Rell, who in 1901 calculated in his book a formula from which to calculate the ideal age difference of partners, would agree.
According to him, men should choose women whose age is half their age plus seven:
A man should marry a woman in the middle of his age plus seven, he announced in Her Royal Highness, Woman: And His Majesty Cupid.
Archaic approach? Nonsense? Tips from the last century do not make much sense? On the one hand, yes, and on the other, some union experts still agree with the formula. American expert Susan Winter does not exclude the success of this rule:
It’s quite funny that there is an equation for the optimal age difference in love. But the formula seems to have some scientific credibility. The truth is, however, that two matching souls will find each other, regardless of their age (…) Age is just a number, first of all, relationships based on mutual understanding have a chance of success
