Magdalena Salome is born out of a fascination with plants – their fluidity, changeability of shapes and primal vitality.
The “Algae” series of works are based on vegetable carcasses prepared by the artist in the process of maceration and cooking of plant matter. Due to the unpredictability of the creation process, the inks changed color, shade or transparency every time. This perfectly reflects the variability of the natural environment, which is a constant inspiration for Magdalena Salome.
The presented series is inspired by the first plants: their beginning, genesis, smooth formation with all the lability of their form.
The “Algae Exhibition” was created in cooperation with. The characteristic space combining art and ecology perfectly harmonizes with the artist’s work. The Służew Culture House received, among others, POLITYKA Architecture Award 2013.
