Everything is ready for the 36th edition of the Goya Awards that will be held for the first time in Valencia this Saturday, February 12. The gala will be broadcast from the Palau de les Arts and can be seen from 10:00 p.m. on TVE.
This year the Spanish Academy of Cinematographic Arts and Sciences will pay tribute to the centenary of Luis García Berlanga and will deliver the Goya of Honor to the actor José Sacristán. Furthermore, and for the first time, An International Goya will be awarded, which will go to Cate Blanchett.
The great favorite of this edition is the tape ‘The Good Boss’which has received 20 nominations, thus becoming the film with the most nominations in the history of the awards, surpassing ‘Numbered Days’, which received 19 nominations 28 years ago.
In fact, the film by Fernando León de Aranoa opt to win in all major categories and it is only exempt from those in which it cannot be nominated for best documentary, animated film, short and animated short, novel direction, adapted screenplay and song.
Despite the nominations, you can only take up to 16 bobbleheads and that is there are categories in which several of its actors compete against each other. It has three nominees out of four possible for supporting actor: Celso Bugallo, Manolo Solo and Fernando Albizu, and two for revelation actor: Óscar de la Fuente and Tarik Rmili.
Also, this year the Goyas come with more Oscar flavor than ever and that is that three of its nominees –Penélope Cruz, Alberto Iglesias and Javier Bardem- They also opt for a statuette from the American Academy.
In addition to La 1, there is also the option of following the gala through the website of this same channel. In addition, the official profiles of the Academy will update the status of the applications in ‘streaming’ on social networks. It will turn out to be a very innovative gala due to a small change in its format: unlike other years, The 2022 Goyas will have several hosts from the gala.
The president of the Academy, Mariano Barroso, explained that this year “There will be top-level figures as presenters and presenters”but it will not fall on anyone in particular to carry the weight of the gala.
The ceremony will also feature musical performances: Leiva, Luz Casal and Joaquin Sabina will be some of the artists who will perform. The latter will perform two years after his last concert, on the day he turns 73.
