Lin-Manuel Miranda is grateful for the 2022 Oscar nomination

The artist and composer of Puerto Rican origin Lin-Manuel Miranda expressed this Tuesday his emotion and gratitude after achieving a nomination for best original song at the 2022 Oscarswhich are delivered next March 27.

Miranda was nominated for the theme “Two caterpillars” from the movie “Encanto”which was composed and sung by the Colombian interpreter Sebastian Yatra.

“Encanto”, the Disney film set in Colombiagot three Oscar nominationsin the categories of best animated film, best soundtrack and best original song.

On her Twitter account, Miranda reported that “she woke up all of Washington Heights” in New York, while they presented the nominations of her co-workers, including that of the composer Germaine Franco, with whom she worked on “Encanto”, as well as actor Andrew Garfield, star of “Tick, Tick…Boom!”.

Miranda directed “Tick, Tick… Boom!”, a film that was also nominated for two Oscars for best editing and best actor for Garfield.

The artist also congratulated the veteran American rapper Questlove, for his nomination for best documentary feature film for “Summer of Soul”, and Ariana DeBose, whose father is Puerto Rican and who was nominated in the category of best supporting actress for her role as Anita in the movie “West Side Story”.

“Grateful, grateful, grateful,” Miranda wrote at the end of the tweet.

The films that received the most nominations this year for the Oscars were “The Power of the Dog”, with 12; “Dune” with 10, and “West Side Story” and “Belfast” with 7 each.

Miranda previously contended for an Oscar when he was nominated for the song “How Far I’ll Go” from the 2016 animated film “Moana.” (E)
