Eurovision 2022. Do you have chills? Mahmood and Blanco from Italy are not the second Maneskin

Mahmood and Blanco with the song “Brividi” (Italian for tremors, shivers) won the 72nd San Remo Song Festival. This victory entitles them to represent Italy at the Eurovision Song Contest in May in Turin.

The music video for the song is available on YouTube from February 2 and has already been watched over 13 million times!

Mahmood is a 29-year-old Italian singer, rapper and songwriter with Egyptian and Sardinian roots. He is not a newcomer to San Remo, as well as to Eurovision – in 2019 he won the 69th San Remo Italian Song Festival, and in the same year he took second place in Tel Aviv – he was defeated by Duncan Laurence, representing the Netherlands with the song “Arcade” .

The struggle in San Remo lasted four evenings. According to the jury, they were the best of the first, but the second gave the victory to Elisa with the song “O forse sei tu”. After the audience vote on the third evening, they took the lead again and kept it in the overall standings until the end, although the last performance, where the artists sang covers, was rated second.

Despite the victory, it is not known if we will definitely see this duo in May in Turin. Mahmood is scheduled to perform in Nonantola on the day of the Eurovision final, and Blanco in Brescia. However, if they take on this obligation, it may mean a lot of competition for Krystian Ochman, who is currently one of the main favorites of the Polish preselection. “Brividi” and “River” of the Polish singer are kept in a similar style.

We will know the Polish representative after the concert and voting on February 19. The final is scheduled for May 10, 12 and 14, 2022 and is to be held at the PalaOlimpico in Turin.
