“I’m not interested in jumping in the morning on television,” says Richard Barker, the remembered Stacy, who today is dedicated to tourism and social assistance

Thirty-eight years of work in television and theater support his career. The Ecuadorian artist Richard Barker He has been a constant face in national productions and also a talent that has earned the affection of the public, which has followed him since he entered their homes through Stacy Vera, the character of the series My lovely little onesin which he shared with Amparo Guillén (Lupita).

Currently linked to tourism promotion in Ecuador, Barker is one of the organizers of the peaceful march that is scheduled to take place this Saturday, February 5, at 10:00, along 9 de Octubre Avenue.

“I am dedicated to the tourist reactivation of this country. I started in Cuenca eight months ago, when I found it with 20% hotel occupancy, we took it to 89% hotel occupancy (…). But also seeing that our country is falling into a social debacle and, above all, daily deaths and violent assaults, I had to raise my voice and that is what I am doing. I am dedicated to that. I am also dedicated to filming a movie and making tourism programs, at an international level, that will be released on DirecTV for the Ecuadorian community, in the countries where they are, abroad”.

On the local small screen, Barker knew how to make room for himself in morning shows, such as In contact Y From house to house; and although he is not currently involved in free-to-air productions, he is also focused on tourism production in Ecuador: “I have a proposal from a channel, from some Ecuadorian businessmen, to do Reviving with Richard Barkerwhich is going to come out on DirecTV and is a program for the Ecuadorian people abroad, who miss their land”.

The artist also points out that for now he has not received proposals from national channels to join any production: “I am not interested either if it is not a program that has to do with reactivation or social help. I’m not interested in jumping in the morning on television, because I’ve already jumped too much. I’m not interested in gossiping, because gossip is told on networks. I am interested in leaving legacies, that for me is interesting and important”.

“It is one thing to be known and another to be recognized over time, because it is not the first time that I have done one of these things (with regard to the march). Yes, I am the voice of the voiceless. How I would have liked other actors to join, other well-known or recognized people; but, unfortunately, the apathy that we have developed in recent times, which is greater than the empathy of putting oneself in the other’s shoes (…). Yes, I am a spokesperson, because just as I reactivated an entire city, I can reactivate an entire country, even if I do not have the money or the resources, it does not matter, I will continue to do so”, Richard Barker.

Regarding the situation of his partner Amparo Guillén, who is going through an economic crisis due to the lack of work, he also affirms that he has knowledge on this subject and that at the time he has also helped her. (I)
