The SKOK scandal began with the declaration of bankruptcy of SKOK Wołomin in February 2015. Spółdzielcze Kasy Oszczędnościowo-Kredytowe were not included in the list of banks, therefore it was only after the introduction of the act in 2012 that the Polish Financial Supervision Authority started to control them. After the audits, it was found that as many as 44 out of 55 existing savings banks did not meet the requirements. The situation directly threatened the finances of people who took loans or credits from SKOK or entrusted them with their money. After inspections from 2014, 13 credit unions went bankrupt, and around 250,000 people were injured as a result of their bankruptcy. The Bank Guarantee Fund paid the customers of failing credit unions over PLN 4 billion. In the trial of SKOK in Wołomin, the court has not yet indicated the guilty parties.
“Roots of Evil”. There is the first trailer of the Sekielski film about credit unions
The Sekielski brothers decided to take up the subject a few years ago, emphasizing that the game included “mass deceptions, extortions, extortions, and even an attempted murder”. On Saturday morning, the first trailer of the movie entitled “Roots of Evil” appeared on their YouTube channel. – This film – which I would like to emphasize strongly – goes beyond the issue of credit unions themselves. This is a film about pathology, the so-called a system that politicians often talk about, which has been in place since the beginning of the Third Polish Republic, regardless of whether the SLD, PO or PiS governs – says Tomasz Sekielski in an interview with Press.pl.
Although the work on the document is still in progress, Sekielski ensures that all efforts are directed to the spring premiere. On YouTube, the developers wrote: “We were advised against making this film by many. Many did not believe that we would do it. Many still say we got bribed. “
When asked by Press.pl about his hopes for “Roots of Evil”, Tomasz Sekielski replies that he is counting on “shaking up public opinion”. – I would like the Polish public opinion, which has never been informed in such a wide way about what is surrounding this case – about its genesis and the disorder of the state, which is entangled with informal structures blocking investigations and controlling financial institutions – to be shocked, underlines journalist.
