The maker of the renowned video game franchise “Grand Theft Auto” announced Friday that a new edition is in development.
New York-based Rockstar Games did not say when “Grand Theft Auto 6” will hit the public or how it will differ from the last edition, released in 2013 to a best-seller.

“We are pleased to confirm that development for the next installment in the series is underway,” the studio’s subsidiary, Take Two Interactive, announced in a post.
“Grand Theft Auto”, known as “GTA”, has sold more than 230 million copies.
Its online multiplayer version has a devoted community of fans, who on Twitter expressed their delight at the news and joked that it may take even longer for Rockstar to renew the saga.
One fan of the game tweeted a photo of three hunched-over old men playing the video game, joking that it would be him and his friends when GTA 6 finally drops.

A tweet from the @robertyoushock account recalled that Rockstar used “that same language in June 2012 regarding GTA V”, noting that the game took another 14 months to see the light.
The GTA franchise, where players take on the role of a criminal, has been criticized for glorifying lawbreaking, violence and abuse of women. (I)
