Actor Richard Barker calls for a peaceful march against insecurity in Ecuador

popular clamor is called the peaceful march organized this Saturday, February 5, by the Ecuadorian actor and presenter Richard Barkerand that he assures responds to different social realities that have arisen in Ecuador.

“We all feel the same, from you to the poorest person in this country: that our rights are being trampled on and violated. This impunity is for the right to education: we do not have prepared classrooms, they are not prepared; to the right to health: if you manage to enter a hospital, there is no medicine, and if there is, they are expired; right to security: we do not have security, we know that if we even go out to buy bread it is dangerous, more people die every day; the right to life”, indicates Barker about the reasons that have motivated him to carry out this call.

Barker assures that this day began through a WhatsApp group and invitations that he has made through different social networks. “Richard Barker is organizing it with a group of people: some are from Bastión (Popular), others are from Guasmo, the other gets the fabric, the other the banner. Here there are no buses, there are no sandwiches, there is no need to pick up anyone, here everyone arrives as they please. Whoever feels Ecuadorian and feels that his rights are being violated, this is the time to leave, ”he says.

The artist indicates that one of his requests is for President Guillermo Lasso to be more empathic with his people. “This is a peaceful march, where we invite the mayor, the mayor, from different places, to come out and claim that the competence of security depends on the Ecuadorian State; or if not, that each city has its own security, ”he emphasizes.

Barker maintains that in Guayaquil the march will have its meeting point in Centennial Park. The tour, starting at 10:00, will be along 9 de Octubre avenue and up to the boardwalk. He points out that other cities are also expected to join this call for peace. “This is not a political party, let it be clear; and I’m not interested in going to any political position either, I don’t want anything. I just want peace, tranquility, that our people have the opportunity to have a job and to bring bread home, ”he adds. (I)
