For 35 years, the crime magazine 997 has been describing and showing unresolved cases from years ago. Thanks to the work of the police, journalists and viewers, many perpetrators who thought that they would avoid punishment have already been apprehended. In 2000, the murder of Olga L. was described. The neighbors who lived next to the woman took part in a staging describing the crimes.

That night shocked the inhabitants of a small town

It was April 21, 1999. 70-year-old Olga L. was murdered in Pustów, a town in Słupsk County. The village was inhabited by less than 200 people, most of whom had known each other for years. This was also the case with Olga L. She was liked by the neighbors. She lived like most of her retirement years, and to earn some extra money she chased wine, which she later sold for bottles or mugs.

Some residents in return for the drink bought her, chopped wood, or helped with the housework. Olga L. had a good heart, so she almost never refused, even if someone did not have money, he was “bought” in another way. One of her regular customers was Ryszard S. The man lived nearby and had known her for many years. He talked to her often and drank wine. According to Ryszard S., a modestly living Olga L. must have had considerable savings, taking into account that she lived modestly and that she earned some extra money until her retirement by making wine. It was then that the idea of murdering a 70-year-old came to his mind.

He killed for 1,300 zlotys

Ryszard S. waited until the local residents went to sleep and then knocked on the door. The woman, knowing her neighbor, let him inside without hesitation. Then Ryszard S. attacked her and stuck a knife in her neck. He plundered the entire apartment and stole 1,300 zlotys. He left the bleeding old woman for dead. Upon leaving, he closed the door as if nothing had happened.

Local residents were surprised that the next day the woman did not leave the house at all. They often saw her walking around the property. One of the neighbors called the police and they made a terrifying discovery. The bloody body of Olga L. lay on the floor, and the house looked like it had been through a hurricane. They immediately understood that there was a robbery. The inhabitants of Pustów feared for their lives, organized neighborhood guards, because they assumed that each of them could be another victim. Among those involved in the investigation was also Ryszard S.

The 997 program team came to the village

A few months after the murder of Olga L., the crew of the crime program broadcast on TVP – 997 appeared in Pustów. Michał Fajbusiewicz and its producers decided to look closely at the case. Ryszard S. was involved in the program and offered help. One day he offered to play in the staging of Olga L’s crime, he claimed then that he had no money and would be happy to make some extra money. He was given the role of a neighbor who drank wine at the old woman’s house. Back then, no one suspected that the man had anything to do with the crime. According to the investigators, the person who committed the crime was not from this village, as it had ceased its activity.

Fajbusiewicz repeatedly emphasized that the behavior of Ryszard S., who was interested in the case, was not extraordinary, because many people were curious about what really happened. Although after the broadcast of the program, the police pointed out a few suspects, including Ryszard S., no one was charged for lack of evidence. The case is stuck in place. By the time.

After 10 years, the murderer of Olga L.

Back then, DNA testing was not as popular as it is now. Over time, however, this method became more and more common, and policemen often returned to unsolved cases. This was also the case with the murder of Olga L. In 2008, policemen from Słupsk came to surprising conclusions. It turned out that it was not the criminal passing through the village who was behind the brutal attack, but one of the inhabitants. All traces clearly indicated that it was Ryszard S. who murdered the old woman. The man at the time of committing the crime was 46 years old.

Years later, when the policemen visited Ryszard S. at work, he was surprised and terrified. At first it seemed to him that it was impossible for anyone to find his trail after all these years. Eventually pleaded guilty and was sentenced to life imprisonment.
