Seemingly quick disposal of coffee grounds or grounds in the sink seems tempting, but such action can be fatal and cause a lot of damage. So if you don’t want to spend extra money on a plumber, check the best way to get rid of coffee grounds.

What to do with coffee grounds? Pouring them down the sink is a common mistake

When you pour the leftover coffee grounds down the sink after drinking your favorite coffee, it may seem as if it is disappearing rapidly. Unfortunately, appearances are deceptive. Coffee grounds residue builds up in the drain pipes, creating a somewhat “mud” like slime that can cause severe clogging of the pipes over time. People who often drink loose coffee, or use one in their machine, should know and use at least one of the following, which allows you to safely remove coffee grounds.

The easiest way is to simply throw them into a container with biodegradable waste. However, if someone has such possibilities, they can be added to the composter. Going further in the spirit of zero waste, coffee grounds can be used as fertilizer – just pour them around the plants. They contain several key minerals for plant growth, such as nitrogen, calcium, potassium, iron, phosphorus, magnesium and chromium. In winter, on the other hand, you can use coffee grounds as a remedy for icy paths. They will work as well as sand or salt, and are much safer, for example, for the delicate paws of our pets.
