“I didn’t know this man and never talked to him”
Katarzyna Dacyszyn was harassed by Robert W., who lived in her neighborhood. The stalker posted comments about her online, and sent her offensive e-mails and SMSs.
I didn’t know the man and never spoke to him. He followed my fanpages on Facebook and Instagram accounts. He left comments under the photos, actions and shows that I organized. At first they were positive, then when I didn’t react, unflattering, and finally aggressive. I started receiving messages on Messenger and LinkedIn. With declarations of love and reproaches that I do not appreciate his feelings. I tried to ignore these behaviors, thinking it was a form of making my life difficult online, but when I got a text from him on a private phone, I really felt scared and the threat started to seem real

After the case went to court, the man was charged with stalking. A trial was to be held against him in August 2016. While waiting for the case to begin in front of the courtroom, Dacyszyn was doused by the accused with sulfuric acid. It turned out that the man brought the acid to the court in a coffee jar. The woman was taken to one of the hospitals in Łódź, and then transferred to the Burn Treatment Center in Siemianowice Śląskie. He has had many months of treatment and rehabilitation behind him.
In October 2017, the District Court in Łódź sentenced the man to 25 years’ imprisonment. Additionally, a 12-year ban was ordered from approaching the victim less than 100 meters. The court also ruled that the convicted person would be able to apply for release after 20 years of imprisonment.
