On the OnlyFans platform, porn ends, but not nudity

OnlyFans will continue to allow nudity as long as it follows an “acceptable use policy”.

Pay to receive “exclusive” access to racy or pornographic videos. Basically that is the premise of OnlyFans, a web platform that gained followers and fans during the pandemic and that has now announced a radical decision that, for some, must be the closest thing to the destruction of humanity by a rain of atomic bombs: no more explicit sexual content on the website.

The idea of OnlyFans, whose headquarters are in the United Kingdom, is to apply this new policy from 1 October, as a way to satisfy the demands of business partners and investors, apparently uncomfortable with the huge number of content generators that, basically, they were dedicated to offering pornography to their followers.

The company tried to reassure its two million “creators” by stating that it will continue to allow nudity, as long as it abides by an “acceptable use policy” that OnlyFans will be responsible for publicizing in the coming days. As a sign of its good intentions and its desire to expand the range of offers, the firm announced that it wants to open up to new spaces, such as photos and videos of cooking, music, comedy or yoga.

“We remain dedicated to our community of 130 million users and more than two million creators who have received more than $ 5 billion on our platform” since its founding in 2016, indicates the firm’s statement, which quickly became the a place where pornstars make significant amounts of extra money thanks to an audience eager to pay for access to “exclusive” videos or photos.

Through OnlyFans, sex workers were also able to diversify their business by generating income in a relatively safe way. The news comes after Pornhub operator MindGeek revised its policies this year amid pressure from payment processors concerned about complaints about posting illegal content on the site, such as pedophile or rape videos.
