Eudoxia Estrella, the artist from Cuenca, co-founder of the Biennial of art, dies

At dawn this Thursday Eudoxia Estrella died. While he was resting in his house located in the traditional neighborhood of San Sebastián, he ceased to exist who She was considered one of the most important visual artists in the city and co-founder of the Biennial of Art.

Estrella passed away at the age of 96 due to natural causes. In the city is widely known for her cultural contribution and her complete dedication to painting.

She was a teacher of watercolor, but also for many years she shared her knowledge with dozens of children, to whom she taught what she knew best, painting.

Rita Pérez was one of his closest collaborators and spent the last 25 years at his side. Although his departure hurts, he comments that Estrella was waiting for this day, so he assures that he left in peace.

His house is also located in front of the Municipal Museum of Modern Art and the hustle and bustle was intense. Pérez clearly remembers the last conversation they had. On Monday, September 27, they went to the cafeteria installed on the ground floor of their workshop, had a beer and remembered their great friend Eliecer Cárdenas, who died the day before. From then on his health deteriorated a bit, until he finally left.

Estrella’s mortal remains will be held at the Museum of Modern Art until 11:00 on Friday. Then they will be taken to the patrimonial cemetery to be placed next to those of her husband, Guillermo Larrazabal. (I)
