Taylor Swift Clarifies Blur’s Damon Albarn That She Does Write Her Songs

“And I also wrote this tweet myself, in case you were wondering,” she added on her Twitter account.

What ‘false and very harmful’ rated the American singer Taylor Swift, the statement made by Damon Albarn about what she can’t take credit for the lyrics of his songs. The comment of Blur vocalist was made public in a recent Interview with Los Angeles Times.

Albarn pointed out that Swift “doesn’t write her own songs” after the interviewer of that medium pointed out that Swift was a talented songwriter. When the interviewer mentioned that Swift also co-writes, Albarn replied: “That does not count. I know what cowriting is. Cowriting is very different from writing. I don’t want to throw hate at anyone, I’m just saying that there is a big difference between a composer and a composer who co-writes. It doesn’t mean the result can’t be really good.”

“A really interesting songwriter is Billie Eilish and her brother, Finneas,” Albarn continued, “I’m more attracted to that than Taylor Swift. It’s just darker, less infinitely optimistic. Much stranger. I think it’s exceptional”.

Today, the 32-year-old singer returned to Twitter To reply to Albarn:

“I was a huge fan of yours until I saw this. I write ALL my own songs. Your opinion is completely false and SO harmful. You don’t have to like my songs, but it’s really terrible try to discredit my compositions. WOW,” Swift shared with her 89.8 million followers.

Producer Jack Antonoff who won the Grammy with Swift for Folklore (2020) he also responded to Albarn’s accusation.

“I never knew Damon Albarn and he He’s never been in my studio, but apparently he knows more than the rest of us about all those songs. that Taylor writes and brings. If you had been there… well… go ahead. But if not… maybe…. why don’t you shut your mouth?”

Shortly after Swift’s answer, the creator of Gorillaz, responded by apologizing and saying that their conversation about writing songs was reduced to a headline to get clicks.

“I totally agree with you. I apologize unreservedly and unconditionally. The last thing I’d want to do is discredit your songwriting. I hope you understand”.
