The Berlinale will start its Official Section with François Ozon

The Berlinale will return to the face-to-face in an edition that will take off with the opening film by François Ozon. As a result of the health situation, the Official Selection will be concentrated in six days instead of ten, there will be no parties and access to the rooms will be restricted.

But the red carpet will be rolled out, on which the teams of the 18 films included in competition are expected to parade, which include in their casts Juliette Binoche, Vincent Lindon, Isabelle Adjani, Hanna Schygulla, Valeria Bruni Tedeschi and Charlotte Gainsbourg.

There will also be a tribute gala to Isabelle Huppert, who will receive the festival’s Golden Bear of Honor.

Ozon comes to Berlin for the sixth time, this time with “Peter von Kant”, and will also be the double winner of the Zinemaldia Golden Shell Isaki Lacuesta, the Catalan Carla Simón, Claire Denis, Mikhael Hers, Phyllis Nagy, Hong Sangsoo.

“20,000 species of bees”

The film project “20,000 species of bees”, by Estibaliz Urresola, will participate in the Berlinale Co-Production Market, which will be online for the second consecutive year. The producers will seek to establish relationships with potential international co-producers, international sales agents, distributors and content platforms to promote the film.

“20,000 species of bees” tells the story of Lucía, 6 years old, a girl with a penis whom everyone calls Aitor. He longs for the arrival of summer to leave behind the hostile school climate.

In the town, Ane will try to hide her situation from everyone to disconnect and rest. Lucía, her mother, on the other hand, will see the holidays as an opportunity to show herself to everyone as the girl she is. The desires of both will soon be truncated during the summer that will change their lives.
