“Yesterday” is a film by Danny Boyle from 2019, telling the story of Jack Malik, a guitarist who, as a result of the global blackout, is the only one to keep the memory of the Beatles. Gaining great fame is due to the fact that he credits himself with the authorship of their songs. In addition to Himesh Patel, who plays the main role, the cast includes, among others Kate McKinnon, Lily James and Ed Sheeran. It would seem that everyone has forgotten that Ana de Armas was also supposed to appear in “Yesterday”. It seems, however, that almost all of them – including Conor Woulfe from Maryland and Peter Michael Rosha from California, who on this occasion, almost three years after the premiere of “Yesterday”, decided to sue Universal.
Ana de Armas has loyal fans. They sue Universal because the actress was cut from the movie
De Armas was to appear in the movie as Roxane, who is introduced to Malik on the set of James Corden’s talk show. Malik would sing George Harrison’s “Something” for her. The de Armas scenes were removed because viewers didn’t like the idea of Jack straying away from his main object of affection, a childhood friend played by Lily James. – It was a drastic cut because [de Armas] she was brilliant. Really charming, said screenwriter Richard Curtis. – This is one of those situations where, for the sake of the whole, we had to get rid of our favorite scenes from the movie.
Still, the de Armas footage made its way to the “Yesterday” trailer, which you can see below (the actress appears around 1:50):
Unfortunately for Woulfe and Roszy, the scenes from de Armas encouraged them to watch the film. that the gentlemen say they each paid $ 3.99. (about PLN 16) for renting a movie on Amazon Prime only to discover that the final version of “Yesterday” for de Armas did not have enough space. In the lawsuit, disappointed viewers accuse Universal of engaging in deceptive marketing and want to win at least … $ 5 million on behalf of the affected consumers. Universal has so far declined to comment.
