International careers of Polish women and Poles. Beata Tyszkiewicz almost became a Bollywood star

We know very well how successful abroad are Anja Rubik or Kasia Smutniak, who is called Monika Bellucci’s sister in Italy. Andrzej Seweryn was the third foreigner in the history of French theater to be engaged in one of the most prestigious theaters in the world, the Comédie-Française. And do you remember that Beata Tyszkiewicz rubbed into the pantheon of Bollywood stars?

Beata Tyszkiewicz on the Bollywood episode: I was embarrassed by universal service

Bollywood is said to have 365 films a year. In 1965, Tyszkiewicz was supposed to star in a film fairy tale, and the original contract assumed that she would spend only three months in New Delhi. On the spot, the actress was treated like a world-class star: after her arrival, a party for 600 guests was organized, and she was accommodated in a luxurious hotel. After three months, the stay began to extend, and so did the shooting for the film. The actress eventually spent over a year in India, but did not feel well there. As Tyszkiewicz recalled:

I was embarrassed by universal service, I could not help but help the servants, I fed the homeless dogs. Such behavior is not befitting a star, especially in India.

In recent years, Natalia Janoszek has made a career in India, she is the first Polish actress awarded with an Indian film award – twice! Janoszek received the JIFFA award for “Best International Actress” in 2018 and 2019. Natalia is a graduate of the Lee Strasberg Theater and Film Institute and an MA in International Business Program at the Faculty of Management at the University of Warsaw. From the age of three, she was associated with the “Beskid” Song and Dance Ensemble, and then with the “Bielsko” group, with which she represented Poland for years at international festivals.
