The Brazilian-Ecuadorian artist and producer Menino Gutto wants to seize us from the bossa nova of the elites of Rio de Janeiro and the carioca funk of favelas, with his new single Need you. It is the second composition that he presents for his new musical brand Gutto.
The track is a “farewell, which invites you to dance and surrender to a wandering love for one last time”.
Gutto seeks to capture in this production much of his roots, such as Brazilian and Ecuadorian. “Recognizing his origins, he rediscovers himself and recognizes his true identity through creation and experimentation,” the artist’s team said in a statement.
The new song comes with a video clip directed by Alvaro Almeida and Caymo Pizarro. There, the story of an intense romance between characters from the Ecuadorian coast and highlands is told, accompanied by the dancer Almendra Ruano. In an ancestral encounter, they celebrate for the last time a wandering love in the tulipe ruins, an ancestral and ceremonial center of the town Yumbo (Quito).
The proposal is also characterized by sounds that inhabit the neo-soul, hip hop and latin trap. It has strong influences from the Brazilian music, which is why it is defined as an avant-garde and refreshing production.
Menino Gutto is the artistic name of Gustavo Vicuña, singer, songwriter and music producer, was born in Rio de Janeiro. At the age of 7 he began to play several instruments and in adolescence he composed his first songs. In 2015 Gutto was the winner of the contest The Voice Ecuador.
The artist is producing two albums for 2022. The first is Menino Gutto and has collaborations with different prominent producers, such as Ivis Flies, Itchy & Buco Sounds. While on the second album Lapizlásuli, Gutto performs composition, production and recording work completely alone, to experiment from a more personal and profound space.
