Sofía Sánchez Maestro is clear about her dream: “Make art with the piano at the best possible level”. For this reason, he is fighting against all odds to do the selection test for the Manhattan School of Music in New New York.
The problem is that he does not have enough resources to finance this trip, which will take place at the beginning of March and, he assures, “it is essential” for his “pianistic development”.
For this reason, it has decided to launch a crowdfunding, which already has 70 donations and almost 2,000 euros. The goal is to reach 2,500 to deal with displacement what you have to do.
“I am preparing myself every day by studying as much as possible to be at the level of excellence that this test requires and trying to contact as many people as possible to raise the money,” explains the 21-year-old on the website that launched the campaign.
With the aim of accessing “a good master’s degree in Europe or the United States”, he has tried to find “concerts to make some money, but on many occasions they are not even paid”. And it is that, despite the fact that he has the full support of his family, this “is not enough” to meet the expenses that arise from this type of race.
“At this time, more than ever, it is vitally important to support young Spanish talents and, above all, music students, who have seen economic aid and cultural support for art drastically cut since the beginning of the pandemic,” he said before to thank “the support of all the people” who are interested in knowing his story.
