According to the agency’s analysis, such a situation occurred for the first time in the history of conducting telemetry research in Poland * – on the Wirtualne Media website. According to the Nielsen Audience Measurement report, the limit of five million viewers could not be exceeded, among others “Sylwester Marzeń”, which was to be watched by 4.9 million viewers on the night of December 31st to January 1st.
These numbers do not agree with the data provided by the president of TVP Jacek Kurski. On Twitter, he claims that the average viewership of the event is 6.1 million viewers, and during the performances of Maryla Rodowicz and Sara James, it was supposed to be up to 8.14 million people.
In 2021, Poles watched less television in general
Well, it has been known for a long time that Jacek Kurski does not trust other research laboratories. TVP uses its own audience measurement because it had reservations about research carried out on all channels by Nielsen over the years. During Euro 2020, even “Wiadomości” tried to explain to TVP viewers that TVP measurements give better results. The material shown in June this year showed, for example, that during the Poland-Slovakia match, viewers were called to ask if they were watching the match. It was said that TVP was “being robbed of money”, and in the absence of money, viewers would have to pay for watching football matches.
TVP began preparations to sue the company AGB Nielsen in connection with the unreliable – in the broadcaster’s opinion – measurement of viewership. – Due to the lack of transparency, the lack of real control, and perhaps even someone’s intentional action, the audience research system distorted and completely spatologized. The market is not interested in repairing it. The idea of the lawsuit came from the fact that I simply lost my patience – to Kurski Virtual Media.
However, the president of Telewizja Polska should be pleased that the same company has researched that TVP1 took the first place among the most popular TV stations in the period from January 1 to December 20, 2021. Polsat was second, TVP2 was the third (promotion from fourth place), and TVN was behind the podium. – The average time we spend in front of TVs is falling, and it is practically in all age groups.
