New rules for using and transporting mobile phones on aircraft have been introduced in South Korea. According to the authorities, the batteries that are in them pose a real threat to other passengers. What exactly is it?
This is a real revolution. South Korea prohibits phones in hand luggage
Every now and then information about exploding batteries appears in the media. We are talking here primarily about lithium cells, which are often mounted in, but also in powerbanki and tablets. These types of batteries heat up quickly, making the risk of self -ignition very high, and when it comes to it, it is difficult to extinguish the fire.
The fire spreads quickly and generates a temperature of up to 1,400 degrees Celsius. For this reason, the South Korean authorities have introduced new rules regarding the transport of smartphones on aircraft on March 1. They will no longer be transported in hand luggage. After boarding the passenger’s duty, it will be to put the phone in a transparent bag and place in the trunk under the seats.
Limits of devices on board the aircraft. The new changes are dictated by the safety of passengers
However, this is not all, because it also introduced device limits. The passenger will be able to take only five batteries, i.e. five devices. In addition, cell capacity cannot exceed 100 watt hours.
