Is it possible to eat the egg after the deadline? Little who knows how long they fit in to consume

You buy, put in the fridge or cabinet in the kitchen and completely forget about them. A few weeks later you find them by accident and at the sight of the date on the packaging, if you are in the head. This happens more often than some would prefer to admit. So the question arises: can you eat the egg after the deadline?

The consumption of many products whose shelf life has long passed can be very dangerous. Many people have so encoded that they throw them away even when only one day has passed. This also applies to eggs and in theory it makes sense. These broken ones are difficult to recognize at first glance, and eating them can not only result in serious intoxication. This does not mean, however, that you need to throw away one or two days after the date indicated on the packaging.

How long can you eat eggs after the deadline? Not only 28 days

As indicated by Isabel Maples, a spokeswoman for the American Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, cited by Wprost, Eggs have a shelf life from three to five weeks from the moment of abolition. Manufacturers shorten this time to 28 days and this date is placed on the packaging. However, they may be consumed long after this date, provided that:

  • The shell has not been damaged (there are no visible cracks, it was also not exposed to shocks),
  • Eggs were stored in a dry and cool place.

It can be a kitchen cabinet or pantry. After 28 days, however, they should go to the fridge, but from that moment you can store them for about 4 weeks.

When is the egg not suitable for consumption? Take a simple test

If you are not sure or are afraid of poisoning, you can check freshness thanks to the old trick. All you have to do is pour cold water into a tall glass, and then immerse the egg in it. Fresh will stop at the bottom. The older the higher it will be in the glass. Broken will float on the surface and it is much better not to consume. Do not eat such with visibly damaged.

Why? Over time, the shell loses tightness, and bacteria get inside the eggs. As a result of the slow breakdown of proteins, gas is also produced. The follicle is most often located on a wider tip. In short: the older, the larger the follicle and the larger the angle between the tip and the bottom of the vessel. In this way, you can assess not only freshness, but also the age of the egg.

When this angle is about 90 degrees, the narrow tip is at the bottom, and the wider vertically at the top, the egg is about 30 days. At a corner of about 45 degrees, the egg has 12 to 15 days
