The modern world gives us unlimited purchasing opportunities. You don’t even have to leave the house to order the delivery of your favorite snacks, a new dress or a designer addition to the interior. Consumerism has become a daily habit, and on the Internet you can find literally everything. Sometimes, however, the offer of stores makes it dumbfounded – especially when the subject of the transaction is something that can be obtained for free, e.g. stone or damaged clothes.
What does the Zara brand offer? A stone that came 10,000 kilometers
Zara Home has introduced to the offer a door lock in the form of a regular stone tied with a jute string. Price? Only PLN 129. The manufacturer justifies the cost that the stone comes from Indonesia. Apart from the absurdity of the idea, you can also go for a walk, find a similar stone, tie it with a string and enjoy the ecological counterpart and it’s completely free. This raises the question: do we really need such gadgets, or do we rather fall victim to marketing tricks? The more that it is not without significance for the environment.
Clothing and items produced in Asian countries (e.g. China, Bangladesh, India) must be transported over long distances to Europe and America, which generates huge greenhouse gas emissions. Sea and air transport is one of the largest sources of emissions what?.

Zara Home is not the only brand offering items that arouse surprise. You can find even more unusual suggestions on the web. For example, a Moschino purse that looks like a piece of pizza. Appetically baked edges, dissolved mozzarella, basil leaves – everything looks so realistic that one could be mistaken. But instead of a snack, inside you will find a place for the phone and keys. Price? Only PLN 3379.
What is Balenciaga famous for? Fashion, provocation or marketing masterpiece?
The luxurious fashion has accustomed us to extravagance, but Balenciaga has been going a step further for years – it not only surprises, but also causes discussions. Pants reminiscent of working clothes from the construction site, jewelry that looks like an old laces or a leather handbag imitating a packet of chips are just a few examples. How are their prices shaped? They are just as shocking as the design itself.

Jeans in the “post -apocalyptic” style for 1350 euros are a great example of fashion deconstruction. Torn, stained, with holes in sensitive places, they look like a pile of work clothing. However, this is Japanese Denim, which is to justify their price. In practice, you can think about whether it is still a fashion or a performance.

595 euros for jewelry? Sounds reasonable if we think about gold or precious stones. But in this case it is a piece of jagged, black string entwined with metal elements. You may wonder if it is art, or maybe a marketing procedure based on a simple assumption: if something looks cheap, but it is, it must be exclusive.

Balenciaga proves that luxury has no limits, even aesthetic ones. A leather bag, stylized as a plastic packet of chips with the brand logo and fiery pepper, costs almost PLN 41,000. Its functionality? Like any other clutch, but with an additional advantage, because it arouses controversy. This is a fashion challenge for consumerism, or is it just absurd?
Balenciaga consistently creates collections that provoke and force you to think about what luxury is. Demna Gvasalia, creative director of the brand, emphasized in many interviews that his fashion is a story, not just clothing. In this way, it refers to streetwear, street culture, grunge and the anti -modern rebellion of the 90s in a world where everything is for sale, and uniqueness becomes a currency, the paradox is that the older, the older, uglier and more used, the more desirable it is.
