The subject of victims, which during mass are collected in churches from the faithful, raises considerable controversy. Some priests complain that parishioners give too little. In turn, many faithful are criticized by the fact that the money is collected from them at all. Recently, this issue got loud thanks to the priest from the parish of Saint Francis of Assisi in Łódź.
The priest revealed what amounts people donated to the parish
The priest voluntarily published the financial statement for January. It turns out that the parish in January this year received over 56.8 thousand. zloty. This amount was mainly made up of money collected from the faithful during services. As the priest informed, they were:
- PLN 5786.01 (January 1),
- PLN 5,956.31 (January 5),
- PLN 5,733.84 (January 6 – tray for missions),
- PLN 5,641.76 (January 12),
- PLN 5890.16 (January 19),
- and PLN 5819.62 (January 26).
In turn, a priest from a large city in the northwestern part of our country recently informed journalists of “Fakt” that the average Sunday victim for the head in his parish is about PLN 5. At 700-800 faithful, this gives about PLN 4,000.
In this part of Poland, the faithful are the most generous
According to the CBOS survey from 2022, Poles on average give PLN 23.15 on the tray. However, these amounts may vary depending on the place and occasion. As we learn from the publication of “Fakt”, the highest victims do not always come from the richest towns. Extremely generous, although not at all the wealthiest, are faithful from the eastern regions of Poland. And what is your opinion on this topic? How much do you usually give on a tray in the church? We encourage you to participate in our poll.
