In the 1960s and 70s, Halina Kunicka was a real star. She toured not only in Poland. She performed, among others in Israel, USA, Canada and Australia. In 1960 she married a construction engineer Stanisław. They met when the artist performed in the cabaret “Pinezka”. Wierzbicki came to one of her performances, and invited her to the backstage. They began to meet.

– It was my first true love. I was very in love with Stasia. When I traveled around Poland with performances, I only dreamed of returning to Warsaw. I wanted to see him as soon as possible – said Halina in an interview with Kamila Drecka, the author of the book “The world is not so bad”. She spoke very well about Wierzbicki. She considered him a nice, cultural, caring man.
In the meantime, however, someone else appeared in Kunicka’s life. She lost her head for Lucjan Kydryński, a journalist and master of ceremonies. Their feeling was born on the train. They went together to Bielsko-Biała. They got places in the same range and talked to the whole. After reaching the place, she was to sing her hits, and he would announce her before each exit to the stage.

After this event, the couple approached each other very much. They talked more and more and met. Kunicka began to think about the meaning of her marriage because she felt that she loved Kydryński, not her husband. However, she did not want to act too hastily, so she delayed the decision. – I thought about him more and more often. At some point I felt that something had to be done about it. That this is the beginning of a different life. But at the same time I was married, very good – she said. She decided to put everything on one card. She told Męż that she was leaving. – Stasi was certainly very sorry, but he abolished it extremely beautifully. I sacrificed a house and a marriage, and I didn’t know how life would work out with Lucjan. At that time I was just thinking about throwing everything and to be – she confessed.
The singer could not forgive herself for a long time what she did. – I consist of remorse. After the divorce, I lived with guilt for a long time that I couldn’t ask Staś for forgiveness – she said. In March 1968 she married Lucjan. She was already pregnant with him at the time. Shortly afterwards, their son Marcin was born. “I wasn’t light with the fact that I broke her marriage and I wasn’t sure if I could create a happy house,” quotes Kydryński “Viva!” The couple, however, managed to build a permanent relationship and were together until the journalist’s death in 2006.
