Who was Arakawa Betsy? What do we know about Gene Hackman’s wife?

Betsy Arakawa and Hackman got married in 1991. The actor divorced his first wife, Faye Maltese, in 1986, after spending 30 years together and raising three children. However, Hackman in the press clearly assured that the relationship with his current wife was not the cause of the breakup of that marriage. They met in the gym, where the pianist was born in Hawaii, because it was hard to make a living only of playing. She was as hidden as her husband. She did not give interviews, she did not accompany him at industry events if he was going to them at all.

They preferred to spend time at home, often watching Arakawa films on DVD. – We like simple stories that manage to create some low -budget films – said the actor in 2020. They also had their Friday ritual – Every week they made a comedy marathon in front of the screen.

They had no children, Arakawa was the stepmother of the son and two daughters of Hackman. In their time they looked after three German shepherds. When Hackman worked with Keanu Reeves at the film “Reserve Season” in 1999, two dogs revolved near the film plan. The actor gave them to the local shelter, which he named Dogs of Gene and Keanu. Hackman and Arakawa adopted Gene a moment later.
