It can be said that in many cities ivy permanently entered the metropolitan landscape, adding some greenery to it, and by the way, taking care of better air quality for residents, because it perfectly cleanses them. Thanks to it, ordinary gray buildings stand out from others, gain character, mystery and look just nice and intriguing. This is the case, among others, in the case of the Old Market Square in Gdańsk, where green is overwhelmed by one of the tenement houses. Unfortunately, the natural decoration did not appeal to everyone, which made the conflict appeared.
They want to remove ivy. The owner disagrees
As reported by the Trojmiasto.pl portal, ivy has become the subject of the feud between the owners of the building prosperous on the ground floor and the community. The plant grows strongly, the floors of which include private premises. Because both sides cannot reach an agreement: some want to keep the plant, others remove it, a monument conservator will enter the action, who wants to develop a compromise. Opponents of the creepers indicate that it destroys the facade, door frames, threatens safety and makes insects enter the apartments in the summer. Meanwhile, the business owner does not want to hear about its removal. – We have committed ourselves to work in writing on the ivy of ivy and we are ready to take such responsibility – he said in an interview with the service, adding that he agrees that the roast should be cut, but not immediately removed.
Does ivy cleanse the air? This is just the beginning
It turns out that environmentalists also stood on the ivy side. They indicated that he is over 20 years old and is a healthy and extremely good specimen, which is one of the more recognizable in the area. They also reminded of its properties: air purification, reducing noise and reflecting solar radiation. Also, the Gdańsk Road and Greenery Authority does not see the possibility of completely removing ivy, although it grows out of the area it manages. A similar position was presented by a conservator, but he offered both parties to the conflict a meeting at which a compromise is to be developed. His date is not yet known.
