Paradoxically, the quiet weddings were loud thanks to the stars. Away from the flashlight, they got married, among others Sandra Kubicka and Baron, Patrycja Markowska and her husband Tomasz, Roksana Węgiel and Kevin Mglej. Recently, more and more couples in Poland are deciding to say “yes” in intimate circumstances. “Silent wedding” is an event primarily for the bride and groom. Sometimes partners decide to invite the immediate family to the office, at other times they only need their own company. In some cases, even witnesses are completely strangers, and families learn about marriage after the fact. Agata and Marta told us why they gave up traditional weddings and what their marriage looked like.

Beautiful weather, beautiful beach and lack of oath

Agata and her partner decided to get a quiet wedding, because they are both atheists and are skeptical about traditional weddings. – We didn’t care about the religious ceremony. I think that the wedding is only a matter of two people and their relationships. It should be for them as they want. Not for parents, grandparents or that the uncle could crush that the cake would do better and why DJ, not the band – he explains.

Initially, they thought about organizing a wedding in Italy, but they defeated their bureaucracy. Eventually it fell on Madeira. – You don’t have to have witnesses in PortugalSo, a local, Portuguese official gave us a wedding – he says. As he explains, they were half a year to organize everything, because so many documents from the Registry Office are important. – You also need to take a copy of the birth certificate and a marital certificate – he adds.

That he plans to get a quiet wedding, Agata only told friends and sisters. – They have completely supported our choice – he emphasizes. They wanted to tell their parents after the fact, but eventually they decided to inform them a few days before departure. – My only laughed that I always had to do it differently. The in -laws were slightly disappointed, but they passed quickly – he recalls.

I ask how she remembered this day. – We didn’t stress at all. We had a great time, there was beautiful weather. Everything looked perfect – he says. The wedding took place in Portuguese, but was translated into English. They were surprised that There was no oath.

– I didn’t even think it could be different than with us. The official explains what marriage is, that we conclude it in order to support each other in achieving our goals and development, run a common house with equal commitment and in mutual respect. When they later announced in social media that they were already a smallness, comments fell. – Friends said that we envy us courage In making such a decision that if they were getting married now, they would also do it. I know that many people remember their great weddings, but if someone does not feel this climate, they should not force themselves because someone expects it – he emphasizes.

Five minutes and end

Marta always thought she would have a big wedding. She has a wide range of friends, so she assumed that everyone would spend this special day together. Life decided differently. – We lived with a partner in Istanbul. The wedding had to take place in Turkey, because organizing a visa for her husband just to get married in Poland, it was not financially calculated – says. They both decided that inviting a family was a great responsibility, especially since they could not pay for their air tickets.

– The importance of my papers from the Civil Office from Poland ended in July, and it was already May. We decided that we had to get married quickly. We had friends on the spot, in Istanbul who could be witnesses – he explains.

They organized everything in three weeks. She found her wedding dress in three hours. Until now, she remembers his parents’ reaction when she told them that she was planning a quiet civil wedding with her partner, only with witnesses. “As they were both educators, they knew how to approach me so as not to start a quarrel,” he laughs.

Although they pointed out that they were happy about the wedding decision, they did not hide that they would like to spend this day with their daughter. – They said it was an important moment in the life of their youngest daughter and would like to accompany me. It started me. What happens in my life is very important to them. I know that they want to be with everything on a regular basis, they are excited about my successes and support in trouble – he says.

Marta was resisted at the beginning. As he points out, she assumed that the wedding was only a matter of young people, but after discussing this issue with her husband, they decided to invite parents and siblings. – Even when they arrived, I wasn’t convinced. Now, in retrospect, I think this is the event of the whole family. If you don’t want to, we combine two families. Just like births, funerals, divorces, etc. It may sound up high, but it has a big impact on how the family is developing – he adds.

The wedding took place on Monday. She started preparations for the ceremony at seven in the morning – with makeup and hairstyle. At 11 they met with their loved ones in the apartment, and 13 friend of her husband drove them to the office. The family arrived at taxis.

– In Turkey, weddings are happening wholesale. They last a maximum of five minutes and steam couple. We were the first and we did not see others. The family could choose places in the first place. We were on the stage like in Polish cultural centers in small towns. A bit like in the cinema. Five minutes and end. At 15 we were already in a restaurant for dinner – he says.

After three hours they returned home and dressed up in normal clothes. – We ordered a pizza and celebrated, eating it in the garden. Ultimately, everyone remembers this wedding. Even my sister, who made a Polish wedding in 2014, says that if she were to do them now, it is just like us – he points out.
