These are the best songs in history, according to the magazine ‘Rolling Stone’ (among which one is sneaked in Spanish)

About two decades after ‘Rolling Stone’ magazine released a list of the ‘500 best songs in history’, the publication has updated its famous ranking as a result of the list of the 500 favorite songs of more than 250 artists, musicians and producers, as well as critics and journalists of the music industry.

In total, 4,000 songs were chosen, and from there came the list of the ‘500 best songs in history’, among which hip-hop, modern country, indie rock, reggae and R&B stand out as genres. Of all of them, there are only three in Spanish, one far ahead of the others, at position 50.

Of the ten best, eight are classic themes of the last century, among which stands out in first position ‘Respect’, by Aretha Franklin, from 1967, a song that “catalyzed rock & roll, gospel and blues to create the model of soul music that artists continue to seek today,” as ‘Rolling Stone’ points out.

Here is the list of the ten best songs of all time:

Respect, de Aretha Franklin (1967)

Fight the power, de Public Enemy (1989)

A change is gonna come, de Sam Cooke (1964)

Like a rolling stone, de Bob Dylan (1965)

Smells like a teen spirit, from Nirvana (1991)

What’s going onby Marvin Gaye (1971)

Strawberry fields forever, de The Beatles (1967)

Get ur freak on, de Missy Elliott (2001)

Dreams, de Fleetwood Mac (1977)

Hey ya!, the Outcast (2003)

Regarding topics in Spanish, the first is in position 50 and is none other than ‘Gasolina’, de Daddy Yanke, one of the first reggaeton songs that became famous around the world among the youngest and that today remains an anthem for the genre.

In addition, at position 439 there is ‘Life is a carnival’, by Celia Cruz, followed by ‘Hey, how is it going’, the famous song composed by Tito Puente.
