Moss on the lawn? Not this year. Start the battle with a beautiful greenery. Scattered on the grass and on the lattice

What does moss in the garden show? This is the bane of many gardeners who often let themselves know about themselves. It can be devoted to it. Just a few treatments are enough for the lawn to regain its beautiful appearance, and the moss has been forgotten. Do not wait and start working now, and you will welcome the season with a large rug.

Moss on the lawn is the number one enemy of every gardener who cares for his green rug with care. Unsightly dark plants can effectively spoil the humor and discourage further work. In such moments, we would most likely throw a rake into the corner and forgot about the existence of the garden. However, before we give up without a fight, let’s learn the reasons for the appearance of moss and let’s find out how to fight it effectively. It turns out that it is not difficult if we start acting now.

What is the moss in the garden? You can make mistakes in lawn care

Acid soil is one of the key factors that the moss simply loves. When you notice darker spots on the lawn, it is worth checking the soil pH – the perfect range is 5.5-6.5. Its an excellent ally is also shading. While the grass needs sun, the moss develops great in the shade of trees or buildings. Therefore, the smaller the amount of light, the greater the risk that it will appear in our garden.

Excess moisture is another factor conducive to the development of moss. The lawn with wet and poorly permeable soil becomes an ideal habitat for this plant. In such conditions, he feels like in his element, growing and reproducing with high intensity. Nutrient deficiency and too low mowing frequency further enhances the problem. Knowing the above conditions, you can take appropriate action to stop the growth of moss and enjoy a healthy, green rug without “intruders” between the blades. Remember, however, that preparatory work is worth starting this month.

How to exterminate the moss from the garden? This is not a difficult task

Prevention of moss is much easier than combating it. Here are some simple activities that will help you keep the lawn in good condition.

  • Step 1: Start by thorough removal of moss. It’s best to use a dense teeth rakes for this. Carefully and slowly pull the plants out of the ground, trying to break them as much as possible. Remember not to jerk too much, because in this way you can also damage the grass’s roots.
  • Step 2: soil aeration. The easiest way will be to do it with the help of garden forks. Get them into the ground to a depth of about 10-15 cm, then gently move to loosen the soil. Thanks to this, grass roots will have access to more oxygen, which will accelerate their regeneration.
  • Step 3: soil liming. If the soil is too sour, the moss will return like a boomerang. To prevent this, liming is necessary. Spread on the surface of the lawn, preferably on a warm, dry and windless day. This activity deacute the soil, create adverse conditions for moss and weeds and will affect the development of useful microorganisms.
  • Step 4: Complementing cavities. Moss removal often leaves empty spaces on the lawn. To restore his beautiful appearance, it is necessary to supplement “pies”. Sleep in them the seeds of regenerative grass, which quickly gaps and make the lawn thick and green.
  • Step 5: Drawing nutrition. The first nitrogen fertilization is best carried out in early spring when the grass begins with vegetation. It will stimulate her to grow and quickly regain her great form after winter.

Advice! If the problem with moss is persistent, it is worth consulting a specialist who will advise the appropriate remedies.
