Morskie Oko is undoubtedly one of the most famous routes on the Polish side of the Tatra Mountains. In terms of popularity, only a queue for Kasprowy Wierch or Gubałówka can be equal to him, although he leaves them far behind. A relatively easy route with beautiful views along the way, ended over the giant pond, to which the mountains “fall”, is breathtaking. No wonder that it attracts a number of tourists all year round. What exactly does the road look like, and where to leave the car to be able to take a journey?
What is the easiest way to get to Morskie Oko? Start from this place
The route to Morskie Oko begins in Palenica Białczańska, where there is a huge parking lot. You can get here by car or one of the numerous buses (price from Zakopane is about PLN 15). When deciding on your own vehicle, you should remember two issues:
- earlier purchase of a parking space on the website tpn.gov.pl (in the season the spots sell out on the trunk and many days forward),
- appearance quite earlybecause in the absence of places in Palenica, you will have to leave the car at a half -kilometer away from Łysa Polana. After a full -day journey, extra kilometers are very felt.
How much does a car car park cost at the sea eye? Prices may vary
As for the parking space, they are movable and dependent on the date (more expensive on weekends and holidays) and the day of purchase. If you do it in advance (three days), you can count on a discount. For example, if you buy a ticket on Friday, February 21 to Saturday, 22.02, we are talking about PLN 75. However, if you buy a ticket for the next Saturday, 1.03, it drops to PLN 49. In addition, do not forget about the admission ticket to the national park itself – 10 zlotys normal, five zlotys reduced. You can buy it online or at the ticket office (I recommend the first option, because there are often long queues for cash registers).
Is the route to Morskie Oko difficult? No, though long
The whole route from Palenica Białczańska through the Fish Potok valley to the shelter on the pond leads with a red mark. It is 7.7 kilometers long and less than 500 elevations. In two moments you can gently shorten it and instead of going on concrete, use two stone paths through the forest. They are a bit more steep, but everyone can handle it. In winter, however, they are often icy. It is also possible to overcome part of the route with a cab, but there is a lot of controversy. The park authorities also tested buses, although for now the idea got sticked (you will read about it).
The trail has no difficult elements and it leads to asphalt almost all the time. However, it should be remembered that it measures almost eight kilometers one way, which can be a challenge for some. Nevertheless, on the way for tourists there is an information point, and even a bit further a bar, in addition, tables, benches and Toi Toie are spaced. Despite the unflattering opinion in the Tatra Mountains, their purity is very taken care of.
How much time do you have to go to Morskie Oko? Book all day
Already 50 minutes after the start you will pass the first interesting attraction, which are Wodogrzmoty Mickiewicza (right behind them will part the trails: one will lead to the Five Ponds valley, the other to the shelter in the Roztoka valley). In addition, majestic peaks will be visible from behind the trees, to which you will approach each subsequent step. At the end you will be waiting for a real feast for the eyes, i.e. a picturesque pond with 35 hectares of surface and the tops of the Tatra Mountains, including Mięguszowieckie peaks, a characteristic monk, a pass of Pod Chłopiek and Rysy, which is bouncing in it.
A hostel with toilets, rich catering facilities is also waiting for tired wanderers (be sure to try apple pie) and a souvenir shop. According to maps, all both takes about four or hours of hours, although you should, of course, to rest and breaks. It’s best to book yourself all day (about seven hours) so that you don’t hurry anywhere.
Where can you go from Morskie Oko? It is worth hooking these places
If you have strength, be sure to go yet Around the pond, and people who are non -extended can still hook the black pond under Rysamiwhich also guarantees spectacular views. An additional trip will take about two hours and is 200 meters of elevation over a short section. From the Morskie Oko you will also get to other places, such as Rysy, the Chałubiński Gate and Szpiglasowa Pass, but these are already routes for the experienced infantry.
What do you need to remember in the mountains? Shoes are the basis, but not everything
Over the Morskie eye, take care of the right outfit, and above all comfortable footwear. Although the trail is easy, the kilometers traveled can take its toll. Of course, don’t forget about water and provisions. Remember that in the summer and free days there are plenty of people willing to walk and it can be quite crowded, so it’s definitely better to go in the morning.
