Cádiz is many things, but above all, It is carnival. Since last January, dozens of groups have been going through the stage of the Great Theater Failure of the city. With controversy included – as always – this year sponsored by the group opens the eyes and their denial themes, for which the City Council has opened to the possibility of raising changes in the COAC, the contest has been going through throughout the month January and February until the moment of the Grand Final.
To get to this point, dozens of Chirigotas, comparsas, choirs and quartets by the different phases: everything begins with the preliminary phase, to give way to the rooms and then, to the semifinal. To this penultimate phase 29 groups have passed, but to the last, the most anticipated, only one maximum of 16 groupsleaving behind those that do not get enough score.
Tickets for the Great Final of the COAC, every year, are quite quoted. This year, the tickets to go to the final phase of the contest went on sale on Valentine’s Day, in person, and, as always, they are exhausted since then. But the grand final can still be enjoyed in another way: through Canal Sur Televisión you can see both the semifinal and the final.
And when is this? The day that COAC comes to an end, with the great departure gun to the Carnival of Cádiz, is the Friday, February 28starting at 8:00 p.m. All phases, except for the last one, have a smaller number of participating groups, and although the sessions are usually long, at dawn they usually come to an end.
Nevertheless, In the grand finale the session extends much moreover the morning, with a duration that usually is around ten hours. Of course, ten hours loaded with humor, music, applause and laughs that fill the great theater failure and culminate with the selection of the Best Groups of the Carnival of Cádiz of 2025.
