The Council of Ministers has approved the creation of the Trikitixa specialty Within the professional music teachings.

This will allow, in addition to the formalization of your teaching, the generation of a teaching and research space that allows the conservation and dissemination of this instrument and its repertoires.

The approved decree, of the Ministry of Education, establishes the basic aspects of the curriculum, the schedules, objectives and evaluation criteria corresponding to these minimum teachings.

From there, educational administrations may incorporate other subjects to this new specialty.

The Trikitixa is one of the most representative instruments of the native music in the Basque Country. Since his arrival in Euskadi – it is of Italian origin – in the mid -nineteenth century, the trikitixa (‘Sainu Txikia’ or Basque diatonic accordion) has achieved a great root in parties, pilgrimages and parade, incorporating popular music such as waltzes, mazurcas, tangos tangos or boleros.

With the creation of this specialty, Trikitixa “is recognized as an identity element of Basque music and its social and professional projection is allowed, both within the environment of traditional aesthetics and in the new sound languages”, as indicates the decree.
